Hyatt Hotels London

In August, Victoria, Charley, and Emma had the pleasure of travelling to London to explore some of the exceptional properties within the Hyatt portfolio.

We were delighted to visit five completely different properties which all impressed us.  We’re excited to shine a spotlight on these fantastic venues and share a quick overview of the fantastic facilities they have to offer.

Hyatt Regency London Churchill

The Churchill, as it is fondly referred to, is tucked behind Hyde Park and Oxford Street, overlooking Portland Square Garden.

The hotel honours Sir Winston Churchill with bespoke design and refined décor that gives a subtle nod to his life and legacy. The hotel has 440 stunning bedrooms (including 50 suites) and various event spaces that can host small private dinners up to large-scale conferences. The most impressive is the Chartwell Ballroom, which connects to the beautiful Library. Newer spaces include the Gallery with direct access to outside, and which is connected to the Studio suites for larger events.

The team’s favourite area, though, had to be The Churchill Bar & Terrace. This space is cozy and sophisticated, with an outside terrace that can be used all year long.

We also can’t ignore the 2.5 acre Portland Square Garden, which is one of the few remaining private gardens in the city and has lawns, winding paths and even a tennis court – access is limited to the residents surrounding the garden including guests at the hotel. This makes it an incredible asset to the hotel and a very rare gem in the city.

Great Scotland Yard Hotel

Great Scotland Yard was the property that surprised us the most, it was completely unexpected and quintessentially quirky! It is part of the Unbound Collection which includes historic landmarks and vintage structures refashioned into boutique luxury hotels.

This luxury 5* hotel is located in historical Westminster and is steeped in history; the home for the Kings of Scotland when they visited Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I – hence the name; to the 1800’s when Sir Robert Peel took the building to house the newly founded Metropolitan Police Force, in the early 1900’s it was used as Royal Military Police HQ and the cells in the basement were used to house Army deserters. It was then used as the MOD library until it became a hotel. All of these incredible elements of the history of the building have been incorporated into modern features that are found around the hotel and reflect the rich history, including the wallpaper, coats of arms, 600 commissioned artworks, artifacts, panelling and so much more.

As you would expect from a period building the 152 bedrooms vary in size but are all gorgeously decorated with high ceilings and luxurious fittings.

The large flexible event space on the lower ground floor, is not at all traditional and has one of the largest LCD screens in London. With various areas including a bar, lounge seating, reception area the space is perfect for social events, screenings or meetings that want something a bit different.

There are plenty of dining options including Niklas Ekstedt’s restaurant but the team’s favourite part of this property was the Síbín Speakeasy, hidden behind a secret door, perfect for a private party.

Andaz London Liverpool Street

The Andaz is a hotel like no other. You feel like you have four hotels in one, meaning there is something for everyone’s taste. This 5* hotel is based in an iconic redbrick building, just outside Liverpool St Station, with traditional and contemporary features that blend seamlessly. From the moment you step into the property, you are blown away by its style that reflects best of East London and the city.

The hotel has 267 spacious, design-led bedrooms and a total of 14 meeting and event venues that are all completely different in style and can cater for up to 500 guests. Including the modern Andaz Studio perfect for social gatherings or informal meetings and the traditional Victorian within the original building.

The Great Eastern is a contemporary, functional space with natural daylight and enhanced by the stunning airy atrium. Whilst the 1901 Ballroom is a super impressive room offering a dramatic visual backdrop for social events and conferences. It has an original stained glass dome which survived 2 World Wars and and provides a stunning centrepiece to the room.

In addition there is an incredible Masonic Temple which is a spending marble affair and can accommodate up to 60 people for an intimate dinner or meeting.

Five F&B outlets including a pub, brasserie, wine lounge and Japanese restaurant  are all available for private hire as well.

This hotel really does have plenty of options and lots of different styles of spaces to suit all tastes.

Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars

This five star hotel is housed in a historical grade II listed building just a few minutes away from St. Paul’s Cathedral and a quick stroll to the South Bank and Tate Modern. Located on the site of a Tudor Palace, by the 18th century it was a famous women’s prison.

The hotel offers 205 rooms and suites, all beautifully designed and extremely comfortable bedrooms. The meeting space is completely self contained on the dedicated lower ground floor. The Bridewell seat can accommodate 200 people for a meeting and is equipped with state of the art technology and facilities. The Suite has its own large foyer capable of hosting 150 people for a reception. Smaller boardrooms are also available.

There are two destination restaurants NYnLON – which we can certainly recommend for a laid back but delicious dining experience; and the Chinese Cricket Club which takes you on a classic journey through Chinese cuisine. Both restaurants can be used as lunch venues for conferences. There is also Leaf & Cane which is a Latino inspired bar, available for private hire and has access to a small terrace. From Leaf & Cane there is direct access to the terrace where you will find nine historical and original stone prison cells and cigar terrace. You can hire a cell for small groups of 6-8, or take the whole area to provide a memorable and immersive alfresco experience.

Hyatt Regency London Stratford

Nestled in the heart of Westfield Stratford’s vibrant urban shopping and entertainment complex, Hyatt Regency London Stratford is a small gem. It has 225 newly well-appointed rooms blending sophistication and functionality. The event space is unparalleled, with over 295 square meters of flexible space. Again, true to Hyatt, this hotel can accommodate small or large events, social or corporate. The sleek but elegant design of the rooms, coupled with the stylish dining and social areas, make this venue perfect. The little gem of this hotel is the Elondi Terrace, which gives you a little oasis from the bustling outside world.
