Academic Venues – University College Birmingham
Now knee deep in Autumn we get to our next fantastic Academic Venue, University College Birmingham - a real hidden gem in the heart of Birmingham.
University College Birmingham really does embody the idea that Academic venues are more than the lecture theatres we think of. With meeting and event spaces across the heart of the city, University College Birmingham offers great flexibility in a variety of settings.
All venues are easily accessed from Grand Central and Snow Hill stations. Car-parking is available around the buildings and they are close to each other so using more than one facility is easy. The location of the venues also means there is no lack of accommodation options close by.
Benefitting from unique lecture spaces organisers can choose from therapy suites in the University beauty centre through to aeroplane seating in the Aviation Suite.
The spaces offer really unique settings to allow for a variety of events – team building, conferences and meetings through to locations for filming and hybrid events.
If a meeting in an Aeroplane wasn’t enough then maybe some team building in one of the training kitchens or food labs would be more your thing – bespoke and flexible is something that is key with this venue – if you have the ideas they can more than likely accommodate!
Moss House and the MacIntyre building sit opposite each other and offer a modern and slick setting for exhibitions, meetings and conferences. Linked by a courtyard the buildings offer a great selection of spaces accommodating up to 250 delegates and benefitting from fantastic catering areas and bright and open plan reception area.
In addition to fantastic meeting spaces, organisers benefit from “Restaurant at Birmingham College of Food”, situated within the Summer Row building. The restaurant has an AA highly commended college rosette which means as a training restaurant guests get to enjoy great value, award winning food and hospitality.
Anna Hughes, Head of Commercial Sales, has a real passion and heaps of experience for the hospitality industry and as such sees the massive benefits University College Birmingham has to offer event organisers; “Our campus offers such a variety of event spaces that there is always a new way of looking at them and how they are used. We have had product launches in our Aviation Suite, team building in our health and beauty suites and an exhibition in our Moss House foyer. We get enquiries for our spaces for such a variety of events and we always look at ways of working creatively and accommodating them. Because we have such a variety of expertise onsite we can support interactive sessions too for anything from sports therapy and training to cookery and baking – we really have something for everyone!”
University College Birmingham does have traditional lecture theatres but if you fancy adding a quirky workshop space in the shape of an aviation suite to your conference programme or getting your team together to bake up a storm in the training kitchens they can absolutely help with that too!
