2017 Review – July – December

July saw us at the ICC, a regular venue for us this time we were there for a new client who were hosting a Great Gatsby Ball in aid of their employee foundation, an important charity that provides funds to support whatever charitable events the employees choose to run across the globe. The event was a big success and saw many guests get into the spirit of the 1930’s and dig deep for such a great cause.

August is traditionally a quiet month for us where we take the opportunity to take a holiday and recharge our batteries, however this August saw us doing a lot of planning and ground work for future incentives.  The focus was very much on personalisation – making sure each incentive appeals to the individual winner, taking into account their preferences and needs and creating a life changing experience!

September saw us back on the road with our roadshows – which meant the roadshow team were pretty much out every week from the start of September to the end of November. We were also busy in the final lead up to the various awards events and conferences that we had in the autumn. We also discovered at the end of the month that we were nominated for Event Management Specialist of the year 2018 by the LTG European Awards, keep reading to see how we did!

October took us overseas searching for new incentive destinations. We were lucky enough to visit the striking fjords of Norway – a versatile destination, often overlooked or considered only a winter location, but with plenty of activity options whatever the time of year. We consider Norway a great location for those looking for natural inspiration, the waterfront villages, Viking huts and vast landscapes cannot fail to engage you.  Chile is another destination with awe-inspiring scenery, the spectacular Atacama desert is simply stunning, we loved Moon Valley, and eating out in the evening underneath a thick blanket of stars (and literally thick blankets – the temperature does drop!). There are plenty of other activities too from wine tasting and making; horse riding at a Ranch; city tours of the capital Santiago. Finally, we visited the Riviera Maya, Mexico for a fun filled trip which showed an alternative side to the large hotels and tourist mecca of Cancun. We enjoyed zip wiring through the jungle even Gee who doesn’t like heights absolutely loved this experience and the breath-taking (literally) views you see. We also found some quiet Cenotes, underground caves, that you can swim and snorkel through for incentive groups there are also some that you can reach by small boat in order to have an incredible dinner. We stayed at the Viceroy a boutique property that only has 41 individual villas, each with their own pool. It is a perfect property for a small group or exclusive buy out.

November we were back in Europe with a European conference in Venice for 150 people at the NH Laguna Palace, and a week long conference in Porto. The Porto event saw 75 delegates come from across the globe for annual kick off sales conference. Again we were back at the Yeatman and not one delegate failed to be impressed with the hotel and service that it provided – that doesn’t happen very often! We organised a fun Monopoly style team building activity, that meant delegates got to explore the city for the afternoon but also enabled them to participate in games such as the Segway Slalom, Get Forked and Elephant March from Minute to Win It, among others. The feedback was that 92% thought it was an excellent team building activity. The Gala Awards night was at the celebrated Grahams cellars. We enjoyed a private tour of the cellars, followed by a classic 3 port tasting and finishing with a stunning 4 course menu with accompanying wine flight. A great end to another successful event for this client.

December saw the team enjoy their own Great Gatsby party with various dance and aerial artistes as well as the dodgems – we are still discussing whether you should “dodge” other vehicles or aim for them! We also attended IBTM in Barcelona and were hosted at the beautiful Mandarin Oriental hotel. We mentioned earlier that we were nominated for Event Management Specialist 2018 – well we are thrilled to announce that we beat the competition making a fitting end to an already great year as award winners.
